Dr. Zidar received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame before completing medical school at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine. He completed internal medicine training at the University of Michigan and a cardiology fellowship at Duke University Medical Center. He served as Program Director of the 2011 Annual ACC meeting in Asheville, NC. He is President of Rex Heart & Vascular Specialists and a clinical professor of medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
